Those who have these skills and want a good paying career that will allow them to have a flexible schedule will find this career right up their alley. You will have stability that few people enjoy at their jobs, and you will be highly in demand now and in the years to come. The pharmacy technician field is expected to grow by more than 20% by 2020. As healthcare costs continue to rise, pharmacy technicians bring cost-saving measures to hospitals, retail pharmacies, & outpatient clinics. There are currently 10 hospitals in Bakersfield, & 14 hospitals in Kern County. All of these hospitals have been facing revenue shortfalls in recent years, and pharmacy technicians help to lower the costs of dealing with pharmaceuticals. These days, as hospitals make use of computers & technology to assist in the distribution of medications, the typical pharmacy technician is becoming increasingly computer literate, which also helps keep costs down at area hospitals.
