Radiologic Technology is a branch of health care services which deals with a broad spectrum of diagnostic X-ray procedures. The health care professional who works directly in coordination with the concerned physician and the patient to perform the X-ray procedures is an X Ray technician or a radiologic technologist. Although, the jobs may vary with education and experience, X Ray technologist, MRI Technologist, instructor, supervisor, teacher, administrator are some of the positions that a graduate radiographer opt for.
Radiology Technologist Program Schedule
Starting every year in the month of June after the prerequisite coursework, the 24 month long Radiologic Technologist Associate in Science degree at Bakersfield College offers academic as well as clinical education simultaneously. During the complete year of schooling, the students are required to make a complete commitment to the program, which will be full time. The College may schedule semesters or terms beyond the standard session dates as well as requires the students to attend summer sessions.
Primarily, the classes are during the day. The students are required to complete an evening clinical rotation once the second year of the Radiologic Technology program begins. Some imaging centers and hospitals in Kern County, including Delano and Bakersfield, are the clinical education sites for the program. A clinical training location in any of the Kern County locations may be assigned to a student.

The right skills, experience and theoretical education essential for applying for admission in the licensure examination under the administration of the AARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) are provided by the Program, along with getting properly certified from the Public Health Department, State of California as well the Radiologic Health Division as a Certified Radiologic Technologist. It also makes the graduates eligible to attempt the California Department of Public Health Fluoroscopy examination.

Requirements For the Associate in Science Degree
In order to complete the Associate in Science degree at Bakersfield College, the student is required to complete the following classes earning a minimum “C” grade in each class. An Associate in Science in Radiologic Technology will be awarded to the student.
Requirements for Transferring Coursework
For Transferring Coursework, it is required to obtain 58.5 total semester units with at least grade C’, while maintaining at least 2.0 as the minimum GPA in all transferable coursework.
